Mykonos

We arrived in Mykonos in the evening and our hotel, the Myconian Imperial, was beautifully lit everywhere with candles. You can't really tell in this pic because of the flash, but those lanterns on the staircase were all glowing. Against the shiny marble floor it was particularly gorgeous.

Our room was your standard hotel room, but the outside looked like little villas. Here's a shot of our balcony.

The hotel was very cool in the daytime as well. This is outside of the lobby area with a similar view to what we had in our room. There are two pools and a huge hot tub that overlook the beach. Just down below out of view is the hotel's private beach.

Chora is the main town on Mykonos. It's situated around the port, where we posed with some graffiti.

I enjoyed drying in the sun with a group of hapless octopi.

While in Mykonos, we found a linen shirt for Adam--he was very happy with his Greek shirt. And people began asking him for directions. Does he not look like a Greek man, after all?

Mykonos is known for its nightlife. We wanted to see a bit of that, but when we had to leave for our hotel shuttle at 1:00 AM, things were just getting started! I'm talking like the kind of scene you'll see at 9:00 PM in a California club where the first people are starting to wander in and the DJ is warming up. Greeks are VERY late night people.

We did get a pretty picture.

The primary nightlife we experienced was with some very big pelicans. I found a friendly one wandering through the shops.

I love this picture: the pelican is staring at an array of seafood in a restaurant's display case. Apparently he was hungry and grouchy...

When Pelicans Attack!

Don't worry everyone; I'm okay. I managed to retrieve my right foot, and it works just like new.
