Tokyo

I tagged along with Adam last week on his business trip to Japan--the reason I was MIA from this blog.

We stayed in the Hotel New Otani in the Akasaka district (not to be confused with the Asakusa district, which is completely different). Akasaka is the business area.

Photo documentation of one of the few times I checked email is below. We were up on the 31st floor of a tower with a very urban view. Just behind the drapes on the left is actually an office building that looked directly into our room.

Congratulations to My Baby Sis!

We got back on Thursday, and my youngest sister graduated from high school on Friday.

Her new brother-in-law took the following shots :-)

I am SO proud of her! She's headed to San Diego State this fall to study nutrition science.

Finale

After returning from Delphi, we went out to a nice dinner in Athens to mark our last night in Greece.

The money shot...

Back to reality...

Delphi

Who knew the navel of the world was so picturesque?

Delphi was a three-hour bus ride from Athens. We went with a tour group and an excellent guide who, on the ride there, pointed out the intersection where Oedipus killed his father.

You can't really see from the picture how breathtaking the mountains are. On the left, you can see the columns of the temple where the Oracle would sit. To the right is a valley with 4 million olive trees.

The ruins of the temple where the Oracle would smoke out--I mean, inhale sacred fumes--and give her cryptic answers to the all-consuming questions of pilgrims. The columns mark the entrance--all the way to the right is the actual room she would sit in.

This is the spot where legend dictates that the eagles dropped their stones to indicate the world's center. So there you have it--the earth has an outie.
