April

Gus isn't so into participating in classroom situations--nevertheless, he is learning. He came out of Sunday school the other day and asked with his trademark scowl, "Mom, are we salt? Pastor Bob said we're salt..."

This is a different kind of scowl, but you get the idea.

I can always tell when he's deep in imaginative play because he talks in a high-pitched voice and I'll catch snippets of storylines that involve things he's learned recently. Lately he's all about who's a good guy and who's a bad guy and why.

He's very opinionated about music: Certain songs he'll ask me to turn up, and other songs he wants to skip. I actually find his tastes to be quite good.

People often comment on how affectionate the kids are with each other. I mean, they do the sparring thing too, but just as often they'll run into each other's arms with Gus cooing about his "sweet sister" and Lu patting his back.

Gus often assigns things as "mine" and "Luci's" and I've noticed Lu has started to pick up on that too. I'll see her dividing things as "mine, Guh's."

Just as I was starting to wonder if Luci was ever going to talk, she's been busting out with the two and three word phrases. At some point, she started counting. Not sure how long she's been doing it and I just didn't realize it, but it's pretty clear now that she counts to five on her fingers and gets up to ten missing/reordering some along the way. Someone's been listening to big brother.
Lu loves all animals.

So far she hasn't said anything in Spanish--I had high hopes since she's been in the class since before she could talk. She does understand basic sentences though and will respond.

Seriously, she REALLY loves animals.

Luci loves getting dropped off to classes. She goes and hugs the teacher and then looks for a toy to steal. In Spanish, she wanders up to the front of the class to get a good look at things. She approaches other kids and...just stands there watching what they do. I definitely have to keep an eye on her because she is a wanderer.
Speaking of watching her, this one takes any opportunity she can to break into mama's makeup. Isn't she gorgeous?
