October

I've been doing a "Mommy and Me" Spanish class with the kids. They really love it (the teacher is fantastic). Gus has been babbling "in Spanish" he says, and he likes to count and recite responses to the typical questions. I'm hoping to get him in an immersion program next year, but for now I'm happy he's getting some exposure in a positive way.

It's so fun to watch him in class. He's eager to please the teacher (who speaks in Spanish most of the time), but he mostly has no idea what she's saying. On our third class, she greeted him at the door "Hola, Agustin!" and he shouted "MUY BIEN!" because that's the response he knew. On our fourth class, as soon as he saw her he yelled "QUATRO, CINCO, SIES!" to which she chuckled and greeted him again "Hola, Agustin!" and again he shouted "MUY BIEN!" We'll work on a responsive "hola" for next time... He did get up in front of the class this time to choose and present his favorite picture ("Amigos, mi gusta...").

Luci is technically not old enough for the class, but she LOVES the puppets and interacting with the other kids.

Gus' favorites this month include: Spanish class, the Children's Museum (he frequently asks to go), chocolate in any form, taking baths (a month ago he was not a fan), and having people over.

He could live without socks (we usually go sockless because I choose other battles), vegetables, the Hakuna Matata song (no idea why, but he hates it), and shoes.

Luci continues to be the strong, silent type. She still says "mama" when she really wants something. And "yeah." Recently she's added "no" and "me." "Me" is her go-to word for "I'm hurt" "I want that" "I need some attention" and "what is that?"

Luci loves her brother's food (always better than her own even though they're exactly the same), shoes all the time (preferably other people's shoes), climbing onto our ottoman and then base jumping onto the couch,. Luci dislikes being told no, anything on her head, feeding herself, and napping at a consistent time.

Finally, for about a week this month, they decided that it was much more fun to eat together in one chair. The first time they did it, I of course ran to get the camera because they were so adorbs. So every time they did it thereafter, Gus would prompt me to get my camera.
