As usual, there was a lot of growing going on at the CoHo this month.
(I've moved the monthly kids' post over to this blog.)
It is so fun getting to know our Lu. I try not to have expectations about who our kids will be, but it's hard not to have ideas. And so far both kids have blown my ideas out of the water. But it's the opposite of a disappointment. It's a delight and a surprise, and I marvel at God's creativity as I watch them grow.
Lu is a girl on the go. She climbs. She throws herself off of things. I hear fast footsteps down the hall and assume it must be my preschooler, but no. It is my toddler who can already run. Like, really run.
Everybody comments that Lu does not hesitate to get in the fray. She assumes her brother's friends are there for her. She loves the Kona. She has a decidedly maternal air about her at times. But she is not a girly girl. Even though I call her my girly girl.
She has this way of making herself comfortable anywhere that totally slays me. She loves her a nice spot to lounge.
Lu doesn't say much yet, but she absolutely knows what is going. She
knows where the shoe is that I'm looking for. She knows the bedtime
routine and expects her kisses in a timely fashion. She knows when people are leaving and she shows them to the door, gives a wave, and shuts it behind them--sometimes before they are actually all the way out.
She's really not like me at all. That's just an observation. I love who Lu is--she's definitely her own little lady, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Meanwhile, The Possum will have you know that he is a big boy. He's not always in the mood for mom's silly pictures these days. He'll be three in September, but he's been telling people he's three for over a month now.
I'm pretty sure he's already better at directions than I am. When we start driving a particular way, he'll remind me what else is in the neighborhood with surprising accuracy. (Well, at least surprising to someone like me.)
And here's a little foreshadowing...sick boy on the couch just days before his birthday party (that's a card from his grandma on the couch with him)...
