Gus has been working on his social graces lately. When we sit down to dinner he asks me how my day was. Cracks me up since he basically IS my day. One night he couldn't get to sleep and I went in and laid down with him. "You read that article?" he asked jovially. "Yeah. What did you think?" I played along. "It was funny," he chuckled knowingly. Somebody has been listening to mommy and daddy's conversations...

Singing along to the Pandora Toddler Station

He is assuming the mantle of Big Brother with gusto. He can be very sweet with Luci. When she's headed toward the step in our house, I hear him say, "the edge, Lu!" and then he turns her around so that she'll go feet first.

Parenting Fail: I thought sitting him on his toilet in front of Veggie Tales would score some poop in the potty. Totally didn't work. In fact, when he finally had to pee, he stood up and peed on the floor. I've since revised my methods and the little addict has been banned from TV during the week.

He takes such joy in our friends. I love how he follows around a couple of the older boys in our church and how he gets excited to see some of the other babies. He's always loved being out and about, and will often start whining when we pull into our neighborhood "I don't wanna go hooooome!"

A Montessori exercise keeps him busy during dinner prep.

I've often called him my "little man," and he's recently informed me that he is "the man" or "big man."

I'm determined to be more prepared when it comes to potty training Lu. As you can see.
(And Gus isn't usually in Pull-Ups; I've been sucking it up and dealing with training pants.)

Luci is our water baby. She scrambles onto the wet shower floor if the door is left open. She grunts and bounces in excitement when she hears the bath water running. She cannot leave Kona's water bowl alone. She love, love, loves it.

 

Broccoli is her favorite. She's happily munching on the other half of this piece.
She works off all of the florets and discards the stalks.

Her little personality is starting to come through more. Her "default" face is a serious, studious one. When she's really amused she does that crinkly nosed smile.

She watches everything and picks things up surprisingly easily. Her brother left a cup of water out and she picked it up and carefully sipped from it. She practices her coos into the toy microphone she sees Gus talking into.

"Those fools put my cape on backwards, so I had to fix it myself."

She gets frustrated when Gus and I walk too far and fast for her crawling. I suspect she'll be an early walker, and she's started cruising this month.

Also, she is a climber.
