Sevilla

We finally got into the Mezquita, and I´m so glad we did--it was beautiful. I love the Moorish architecture, and the blend of the Moorish and the Christian is so interesting.

So we´d stayed in a little hostel in Cordoba that was very endearing and warm and...um, the guy felt me up on the way out. I was like, abuelo, please, you just put a whole new perspective on this delightful experience.

We then drove to Sevilla, which was a great workout for our marriage. No pain no gain, right?

I had three maps, but not one good map. This is bad news in a city that was not planned on a grid system. Also ¨roads¨are not always big enough for cars. None of my maps were great at letting me know which roads were drivable.

Since the thought of driving in Spain freaks me out, the least I could do was be navigator. And while I have a terrible sense of direction, I can normally read maps. My complete failure to be of any assistance at all made me feel utterly useless and worthless.

Also, my cold had worsened, and it was at this point that I started feeling my stomach issues (I´m now almost over the cold, but my stomach is still weird.)

It was fantastico.

We did this spiral circle thing until we finally got to a place near our hotel, but we still had to find parking. Adam dropped me off and I walked in to discover that once you ditched your car, Sevilla is a charming place, and I really like the Barrio Santa Cruz neighborhood where we were staying. We were within walking distance of the Alcazar and the cathedral where Christopher Columbus´body is.

They´ve actually confirmed using DNA that that´s Chris in the casket, by the way. Coming next season: CSI Sevilla.

Views of Sevilla from a tower in the cathedral.
