Zihuatanejo

Zee-wah-tan-ay-ho is best known as "paradise" in Shawshank Redemption; the place where you see Morgan Freeman walking toward Tim Robbins at the end of the movie, and as Helga blurted when I told her where we were, "they smile and you just know everything is going to be all right!"

We stayed in nearby Playa Larga, where our piece of beach resembled a Corona ad.

Our first room (they were all decorated similarly).

As I mentioned, I did a little reading on the trip. Here I am on the balcony of our room.

Another hour, another side of the balcony.

I think this is a different day...on the balcony.

Reading at the breakfast table in the hotel's patio area.

Still reading.

And now, to change things up a bit, cows on the beach. I don't know why.

Adam does his impression of a gecko next to one of the decorated palm trees.

He passed the time learning to write with his right hand.

Posing at the edge of the patio area.

We also took a couple trips into town. I'm pondering something on the Bay of Zihua.

We had a lovely, blurry (apparently) dinner overlooking the town.

All that sitting, reading, and dining didn't help my efforts to avoid becoming a fat mermaid, however (we ate here a different night).

Also, we saw a parade. Something about the Virgin of Guadalupe. Anyone want to explain it for me?

Adam poses on the beach at sunset.
